Traverses (WT) – in production

90 minutes, 2:1
Directed by May Dugast
Camera by Max Knoop

Ingeborg, 90, and her friends meet weekly for tea, cake, and candid discussions about love, sex, and death. Their bond deepens when Ingeborg convinces them to order pentobarbital, preparing for a self-determined end. The last piece of her plan: finding someone trustworthy to handle her body after death. One Wednesday at their dancehall, Café Keese, they meet Fernando.

Fernando, a solitary funeral parlor worker in his sixties, finds solace in his job and his private tango practice, though he avoids dancing publicly. After a failed attempt to find a partner, he meets Natasha, 60, a grieving widow and tango musician, at the funeral home where her husband’s body has been brought.

Desperate for a final farewell with her husband, Natasha asks Fernando to help her realising her plan to take her partner’s body home for one last time before the funeral. Initially hesitant, Fernando is drawn to her passion and sees her as the dance partner he’s been searching for.
